RAV upgrades to dual side-mounted SeapiX – full control on both sides

The pelagic purse seiner and trawler RAV, owned by Peter Hepsø Rederi AS, has chosen to upgrade its sonar system to a dual side-mounted SeapiX system.
The vessel has had a hull-mounted SeapiX since it was new and has built up extensive experience with the system in operational use. Now the next step is being taken: two side-mounted SeapiX units, providing full coverage around the vessel.
The dual side-mounted setup provides broad and symmetrical coverage on port and starboard, with full visibility throughout the entire water column. This provides a clear improvement in situational awareness and real-time decision-making.
According to Captain Petter Hepsø, the upgrade is about gaining better control at decisive moments:
"With coverage on both sides of the vessel, we get a completely different picture of the situation around us. It provides confidence and precision in operations."
The upgrade underscores how operational experience, combined with targeted technology choices, delivers concrete operational advantages in demanding pelagic fishing.
